Born and raised in Los Angeles, Matt grew up watching his father,  Jim Goalen, build a business in events and video production. Matt’s passion for video production and storytelling struck early - as a teenager he spent all his free time filming and editing videos with his friends, and went on to major in film at UC Santa Cruz. 

Following school, Matt developed his technical expertise while working for one of the most esteemed event equipment companies in Los Angeles, garnering experience with everything from projection to LED, premium audio to lighting design. This experience shaped one of his core strengths: bridging the gap between creative event design and technical execution. He came to the Goalen Group in 2013 as vice president. In 2017 he stepped into the role of President Creative Director and built on the foundation of past decades with a refreshed approach.
